Meet the Lactation Consultants
Helina Teshome, RN, IBCLC
Kiran Hahn RN, IBCLC
Helina has been a Registered Nurse since 2005 and a Board Certified Lactation Consultant since 2011. She brings experiences from a variety of areas to this line of work, including Postpartum Care, Neonatal Intensive Care and Post Anesthesia Care. Helina became a DONA trained postpartum doula and founded Mommy’s Angels Postpartum Care Services LLC to fully pursue her passion for working with and supporting parents and their newborns. Helina originally started her company to provide postpartum care to families by providing extra support, nurturing and skilled home care. She still feels that this support is very important to families so that they can fully enjoy the changes in their family dynamics. However, over the last few years, her focus has changed to solely providing lactation consulting and teaching mothers the art of breastfeeding. If you are looking for postpartum support we highly recommend reaching out to one of the amazing doulas at Central Texas Doula Association.
Born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Helina has been living in Austin since 1994. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and three children. Prior to becoming a nurse, Helina received her Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting from St. Edward’s University and worked at Dell Computers Corporation. Helina is also the owner of Wellnessprout LLC offering functional medicine health coaching services.
* Doulas of North America (DONA) International
Kiran Hahn is a registered nurse, international board certified lactation consultant, and a mom. She grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, but Kiran has claimed Austin as home since 1997, despite a brief sojourn to Seattle, Washington. Kiran graduated from Stanford University, where she received a BA in international relations. After graduation, she spent 5 years in marketing and technology, but felt she would find greater fulfillment in helping people. In 2004 she enrolled in the University of Texas at Austin Nursing School and earned her RN. Shortly afterwards, Kiran, her husband Jim, and their newborn son moved to Seattle, which is where she developed her passion for lactation and helping mothers achieve their breastfeeding goals. Although she has now had a variety of experiences in both hospital and outpatient settings, Kiran’s first nursing job was at Evergreen Health in Kirkland, WA, – the first Baby Friendly Hospital in the United States – where she worked with moms and babies from delivery to discharge and learned to do so with special emphasis on family-centered care and fostering success for breastfeeding. Kiran has been working with moms and babies in various capacities ever since, and loves being a part of such a special and important time in the lives of families. In 2013 Kiran founded Austin Milk Made, LLC to help Central Texas mothers achieve their breastfeeding goals. When she’s not working, Kiran enjoys traveling, doing yoga, reading, and spending time with her family and their two spoiled dogs.
